Petra Halper-König was born in Vienna where she found the best possible opportunities to follow her inner drive towards music and the stage. In her hometown the passionate soprano studied singing with Prof. Equiluz, completed the operetta course at the Vienna Conservatory and graduated at the opera school at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts. Since then she has been furthering her vocal studies in Vienna with the American operasinger Carol Byers.
Her extensive repertoire includes opera roles like Musetta (La Boheme), Anne (The Diary of Anne Frank), Gretel (Hansel and Grethel), Monika (The Medium), First Lady & Papagena (The Magic Flute) as well as leading sopranoes in operetta i.a. Lisa (The Land of Smiles), Demoiselle Cagliari (Viennese Spirit), Adele (The Bat), Kurfürstin & Christel (Bird Catcher) and Euridice (Orpheus in der Unterwelt).
Petra Halper-König has wide experience as soloist in recitals and sacred music, performing regularly i.a. at the Schubert-Church and various concert halls – Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), Requiem and Coronation Mass (W.A. Mozart), various Schubert-Masses, Elfriede Jelinek Symposium. Not only as singer but also as Conferenciére she entertains her audience.
In Austria, the lyric soprano has been engaged at the Vienna Volksoper, the Stadttheater Baden, the Operettenfestspiele Bad Ischl and the Operettenbühne Bad Hall furthermore she has performed in Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Denmark, the Netherlands, Turkey, Poland and Japan.
